The ISO 9001:2015 standard sets out the requirements for a quality management system. The requirements can be used by any organisation, large or small, regardless of its field of activities, services and products, covering over one million organisations in over 170 countries.

This standard is based on the following quality management principles: The quality management principles are: Customer focus; leadership, engagement of people, process approach, improvement, evidence-based decision making and relationship management. A quality management system is based around the development of a plan – do – check – act cycle, integral to all management systems designed to drive continual improvement. ISO 9001:2015 helps ensure that customers get consistent and quality products and services, which in turn brings many potential benefits to the certified organisation.

Since the inception of the Security Industry Authority in 2004, along with the implementation of the Approved Contractor Scheme, the private security industry in the UK has been transformed.

Built around nine core clauses, an Approved Contractor undergoes external verification once per annum to demonstrate their compliance with the Security Industry Authority's requirement for Approved Contractor status ranging from testing the strategy of an organisation, reviewing the arrangements for managing suppliers, customers, contracts and consumers, as well as financial management and effectiveness of a security provider's leadership, the Scheme uses scoring to measure and assess the success of an applicant organisation.

ISO 27001 is one of the fastest growing standards in the world. Setting out the criteria for the management of a wide range of information security risks an organisation may face, whether these be in relation to IT or physical security threats, an information security management establishes the policies and controls required to mitigate any identified risks to the information within its system.

Of course, these requirements extend to include a business continuity component that supports the system in the event the arrangements cannot stand up to an attack. ISO 27001 has a unique particularity in that compliance with the standard is built around 114 controls in 14 groups and 35 control objectives, used to assess an information management system via a documented statement of applicability.

"When James first spoke to us about Consultancy work we knew that he would be extremely good to help our business grow. He is always here to assist, guide and also look at things from all sides, His knowledge within the Industry is massive. I have personally recommended him to 3 other Company Directors whom I know both personally and professionally. If only every Consultant operated the way Selufen do the Industry as a whole would be on a more professional level field with also a greater understanding for Managers on what gaining the accreditations actually mean and how to operate within the standards required.”
